Do you care about sustainable, financially successful open source businesses?
It’s been a while.. and that’s because I’ve been heads down organizing Open Source Founders Summit!
It’s showtime at the end of the month, so I’m not likely to be updating the blog extremely frequently between now and then. But if you’re on the fence about coming, this is a nudge to make you do so!
The details:
It’s happening May 27th and 28th in Paris.
This is a conference for founders and leadership in open source companies — and attendance is limited to founders and leaders. You have to request an invite to come — and the deadline to do so is May 15th. Request an invite here if you haven’t done so already.
If you’ve already gotten an invite, the deadline to actually buy a ticket is May 22nd. So don’t delay!!
OSFS news:
First of all, the schedule is pretty much final. We’ve got 10 amazing main talks for the mornings, and they are:
Projects vs Products: Balancing project and product from a product management perspective, by Thomas di Giacomo
SaaS versus Open Core: Comparing the pros and cons of open source business models with Pierre Burgy
From Founder to CEO: The non-obvious path to learning how to lead a company, with Gaël Duval
Building an Open Ecosystem: The challenges that come from building an open ecosystem that forces you to support your competitors, and how to overcome them, with Amandine Le Pape
What Went Wrong at Weaveworks: A deep dive that compares Weaveworks and Isovalent, following Weaveworks shutting down and Isovalent's acquisition, with Alexis Richardson
Generating Leads from your OSS: How Nextcloud gets and converts leads directly as a result of the OSS, with Frank Karlitschek
Growing users and customers: How to simultaneously put the gas on open source user growth and customer/revenue growth with Michael 'Monty' Widenius
The Blessing and Curse of Selling Open Source: How open source founders can level up their sales fundamentals with Matt Barker
Selling to Enterprises: How to increase the size of the deals you're closing with Peter Zaitsev
Translating Widespread Adoption into Commercial Success: Being an open source company does not guarantee widespread adoption or financial success; Garima Kapoor will talk about how you can increase the chances that both happen
We’ve also got 10 lightning talks and three breakout workshop sessions on each day (each session will have three potential workshops to choose from).
And there’s social events, which we’re lucky enough to have sponsored by Cisco! Happy hours on May 26th, 27th and 28th; an all-participant dinner on May 27th.
So join us at Open Source Founders Summit! And if it’s just not possible this year, sign up for the newsletter (or just request an invite) so you can be the first to know about what’s happening next year — because there will be a 2025 edition!
