What is your USP?
Unique selling propositions, or actually I like to think of them as unique value propositions, are fundamental to everything your company does.
If you don’t know what yours is, you are a rudderless ship.
And the unique value proposition for your open source project and your commercial offering will be different. If you don’t know what the difference is, you will find it hard to make product, marketing and sales decisions. And perhaps even technical decisions, too.
If you know what your USP is, make sure you write it down so everyone else in your company knows what your USPs is, too. And if you don’t know what your USP is, figuring it out is a hair on fire emergency.
