Introducing: The Business of Open Source
Cloud Native Startup and the Positioning Open Source blog are becoming The Business of Open Source.
Just a heads up for readers and listeners that the name of the podcast and the name of the newsletter / blog are changing to The Business of Open Source. Here’s why:
For the podcast, I’ve found myself increasingly focused on open source rather than cloud native. There is a huge overlap between the two and it’s a subtle difference, but rebranding as The Business of Open Source will allow me to get more into the nitty gritty of open source and business. For example, my recent episode with Dirk Hohndel is a good example of one that didn’t quite fit into the cloud native bucket, yet was squarely within the type of episode I’d like to do more of.
For the blog and newsletter, I still plan to write about positioning often, but there are many other aspects of building an open source company that are important to give space to as well. Selling, product strategy, open source strategy, general marketing — these are all things I intend to cover more in the coming weeks. However, expect that positioning and messaging will continue to be front and center.
