Positioning the Enterprise Edition

If you’re an open core startup, positioning your open source project is important because building a strong community is key to sustainable success in the open source world.

Positioning your enterprise version, however, is just as critical, because ultimately you would like to make money. That won’t happen, or at least won’t happen as quickly or easily as possible, if you haven’t positioning the enterprise option consciously, including paying attention to the types of buyers and users who will get the most out of it.
